gibson-sg-shell-pink
2010 Gibson SG Standard - Late 60's Style Shell Pink Custom

SG in Shell Pink - this SHOULD be a thing. It works as good if not better together than a cold beer and a meat pie (brands omitted but you should have a good idea). Of if your so inclined - a good red with double brie and quince paste. Yeah, it's that good. Pics don't do it justice.

Gibson SG Standards originated from their humble beginnings as a full pickguard late 60's evolution of the original 1961 SG. Now 1961 SG holds a dear place in my heart, but like to so many others, the late 60's SG is a magical guitar. Take for example the little fella who has been jamming out on one* since the mid 70's to now (and yeah, I'm referring to the legend who dons the school uniform and rips the best open chord tunes we will likely ever know). That's what has inspired this guitar. An SG standard should have a lyre vibrola and witch hat knobs. It should make you think that '68/'69 and 1970 were just ridiculously good years for guitars and guitar music alike, because they were. Not to mention the next 50 solid years where the full pickguard late 60's SG and the modern iteration - the SG Standard which bloomed into flower in the early 90's, has dominated rock music.

* It is speculated the little fella above originally had a 71 SG which is the last of the late 60's style before the Norlin years where everything become a budget driven line item. Regardless if he played a 68, 69, 70 or 71 - the sentiment is still the same. Im sure he owns and has recorded with many of each.

As with all our in-house customised guitars - we only customise/ build guitars that we love and wish were factory produced but either are not or not any more.

All our custom guitars come with a West End Vintage and Custom Guitars hard case with serial numbered plaque on the case.

Summary of works:

Body refinished in Nitrocellulose (Wicked Witch Shell Pink)

Lyre Vibrola Added (stop bar delete)

Neck sanded and refinished in clear nitro (Wicked Witch)

Parchment white 3 ply pickguard

Witch hat knobs

Original everything else inc. 490R/ 498T pickups.

Please note: All customised guitars started their journey with us as used instruments and are not without scratches, bumps, imperfections etc. Please refer to photos.

If your keen for more details or interested in buying or testing this guitar please email westendvintageandcustomguitars@gmail.com
