Ace Frehley Gibson Les Paul
Former Kiss lead guitarist Ace Frehley is an iconic artist from the Glam Rock era of the late 70’s and 80’s, and is famed most notably for modifying a Gibson Les Paul to pour smoke out of it as he played. To mark his undoubted success and his lifelong affiliation with the Les Paul, Gibson is making a range of Ace Frehley Gibson Les Pauls, each capturing the Glam Rock sound and vibe.
There will be three versions of these custom guitars; 50 x hand-aged guitars that are personally signed by Ace Frehley himself, 100 x hand-aged models without signatures and 150 x custom Les Pauls that have had the ‘vintage original spec’ treatment.
In a bid to recreate the original look, sound and feel of Ace’s original guitar Gibson has loaded the Ace Frehley Les Paul with three period-correct double-cream DiMarzio humbucking pickups (two PAF models in the neck and middle positions, and a Super Distortion in the bridge), and they’ve styled it in the iconic Cherry Sunburst veneer to perfectly capture everything about Ace Frehley, Kiss and the Glam Rock era as a whole.
As we mentioned, these custom guitars are being manufactured on a strictly limited run, with just 300 instruments leaving the Gibson factory. However, if you’re simply looking for a good quality Gibson Les Paul you should check out the Gibson Les Paul guitars that are for sale below. If you’re looking for other guitar models take a look at the links on the left hand side of the page, where you will find information and news about each of the guitars and manufacturers listed, and where you can also pick up a classic for yourself in the vintage and custom guitar auction listings.
